Square Enix is set to release Theatrhythm Final Fantasy on the 3DS, a rhythm game based on its popular Final Fantasy series of RPGs, according to reports out of Japan. The game, which was revealed in this week's edition of popular Japanese magazine Shōnen Jump, is a "theater rhythm action" game, according to a translation by Andriasang. The in-game music and characters will be pulled from past Final Fantasy games, according to the report, and will require that the player tap the screen in time with the on-screen prompts. Though unconfirmed, Kingdom Hearts series director Tetsuya Nomura may be involved with the project, as he recently teased that a new game would be revealed soon. Square Enix has a number of games in development for the Nintendo 3DS, including a sequel to its portable Rocket Slime series, a new Kingdom Hearts game, and an original StreetPass-focused title called Heroes of Ruin.
