Dots studio Playdots reaps $10M from Tencent and other investors

New York's own Playdots, the mobile studio responsible for both Dots and TwoDots, announced today that it has raised $10 million in a recent round of Series A investment.

Newsbrief: New York's own Playdots, the free-to-play mobile studio responsible for both Dots and TwoDots (pictured), announced today that it has raised $10 million in a recent round of Series A investment. The round was jointly let by serial games investor Tencent and Greycroft Partners, and included investment from entities like Northzone, Slow Ventures and CrunchFund. Playdots cofounder and CEO Paul Murphy acknowledged in a press release that his studio, which has seen significant growth since its foundation last year, will use the newfound funds to expand and "become one of the leading mobile-first games studios."
