Gears Pop!, a mobile RTS developed by Mediatonic that leverages the Gears of War and Funko Pop! brands, is being shut down.

The game has only be available for little over a year, having launched on August 22, 2019, but will officially be laid to rest on April 26, 2021.

Although Mediatonic didn't explain why the title is being shut down, it hinted that long-term support is no longer viable.

"There are a number of things that go into maintaining a game beyond keeping servers active," explained the company in an FAQ. "Addressing issues, developing content, and providing support are critical in keeping a game running. Unfortunately, this is no longer feasible."

As the title prepares to see out its last days, Mediatonic has disabled in-app purchases and set about automatically refunding any purchases made within the last 90 days. A number of popular events have also been brought back for one last hurrah, and the drop rates for Legendary Pins have been cranked up.
