The first season of The Walking Dead video game was released in five episodes during 2012, and received critical acclaim from press and players alike. Gamasutra picked the series as one of its games of the year in 2012. Now Telltale has confirmed that a third series is on the way, as part of a panel at San Diego Comic-Con. The second season is currently still running, with the final episode due for release in the coming months. The success of the franchise is notable, in that it's a very narrative-driven experience that has begun to inspire many other developers aiming to create narrative-driven games. The franchise has sold more than 28 million episodes worldwide to date.
