Algoma University in Ontario, Canada, announced that four of its students have been selected as finalists in the Dare to be Digital video game design competition, to be held later this year in the United Kingdom. Sunny Atwal, Eric Stock, Pedro Melendez, and Chris Iaconis from Algoma University will team up with a student selected from the University of Abertay Dundee in Scotland to design and build a video game prototype for the upcoming contest. The Algoma University classmates will travel abroad and live in the UK for the duration of the ten-week competition. "For Algoma U students, Dare provides a very rare and valuable experience: the chance to live and work abroad for an extended period of time while taking part in the competition," said Algoma University academic coordinator Tommy Brett. "As well, there is the chance to learn about the gaming industry from an entrepreneurial perspective and also to network with and learn from leading figures in the UK industry." Previously, Algoma University students Gavan Acton, Mike Biocchi, Spencer Congdon and Nathan Inch became part of the first North American college student team to take part in the competition. The team took home prizes for "Greatest Creativity and Innovation" and "Best Team Leader."
