Technology licensing company amBX announced that it has entered a partnership with the Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The agreement will bring amBX's "ambient experiences" technology to the ETC and will supply Carnegie Mellon students with amBX-branded peripheral kits for use in game development projects. amBX's ambient technology allows developers to customize entertainment content with light, color, rumble, and air flow. The system will be installed on the ETC's fifth floor, a project space devoted to graduate study and development of location-based entertainment and games. The new entertainment setup at the ETC will allow Carnegie Mellon students to add custom ambient effects to game and simulation projects using an amBX-supplied developer kit. "amBX and the ETC share a common vision for the development of immersive experiences for entertainment and gaming applications using lighting and ambient scene control," said amBX chief marketing officer Jo Cooke. "This opportunity places state-of-the-art amBX technology in the hands of entertainment creators of the future and redefines the way entertainment is experienced. We're really pleased to be able to work with such a prominent institution as ETC to develop the capabilities and application of amBX technology."
