The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red has called for Sony to greenlight cross-platform play with Xbox Live.

Taking after Rocket League creator Psyonix, who recently said it could bridge the multiplayer gap between Live and PSN if Sony gave the word. CD Project says it also has a cross-platform solution in place.

Speaking to IGN, company CEO Marcin Iwinski explained it hopes Rocket League will pave the way for other games, including its upcoming Witcher spin-off, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game.

For its part, Microsoft has already confirmed Gwent will support cross-platform play between Xbox One and PC.

"Our upcoming Gwent: The Witcher Card Game will launch in closed beta for PC and Xbox One later this year, and Microsoft already confirmed Gwent's cross-play feature not only between Xbox One and PC, but also other consoles if they allow it," said Iwinski.

"We also do have a technical solution in place for PS4 and would love to add Sony’s platform to cross-play at the start of open beta. All we need is a green light from Sony."

Psyonix brought Steam and Xbox One cross-network play to its breakout title back in May, and spoke about the possibility of adding other networks to the equation earlier this year.
