Digital Extremes halts production of The Amazing Eternals
The Canadian studio, which also developed Warframe and The Darkness II, is "hitting the pause button" for the time being.
Digital Extremes has halted the production of its upcoming hero shooter, The Amazing Eternals.
The Canadian studio, which also developed Warframe and The Darkness II, explained it's "hitting the pause button" for the time being.
It seems the game was struggling to attract people fast enough to support a viable matchmaking player base, which is pretty much the death knell for any multiplayer game.
Although the studio claims the game was "shaping up to have great potential," it seems the current design direction wasn't quite sitting right with players.
"With heavy hearts, we’re taking a step back to reevaluate the design and may revisit our intrepid heroes in the future," explained the studio in a forum post.
"This was a hard decision to make, and we can’t thank you enough for your incredible support throughout development. The Amazing Eternals will live on through all of you who were there to make it happen."
Anyone who sunk their cash into the Founders Program will receive a refund in the next 72 hours, while game servers will remain online until 11:59 ET on November 2.
As for the devs, the entire team will stay with Digital Extremes and transition to Warframe development.
