With the popularity of Avalanche Software's Disney Infinity exploding, Disney is looking to work with numerous external development teams to build new content for the game. Disney's game business swung to profits after an extended slump late last year thanks to the remarkable success of the Disney Infinity and its range of NFC toys. Now Disney is building version 2.0, and bringing a range of different studios on-board to help it out. Devil May Cry studio Ninja Theory, for example, has been helping to build Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes, due for release later this month. But Disney doesn't plan to stop there. Talking to GameSpot, Disney Infinity executive producer John Vignocchi explained that Infinity is meant as more than a game series -- it's a platform that other developers can develop playsets for. "we've designed Infinity to be a platform, not only for players to expand content, but for developers to join and create content based on the amazing catalog of IP we have at Disney," he explained. Disney says that it is already working with a number of devs. "Over time, we'll be announcing more developers that are joining the platform, but for right now we're thrilled that [Ninja Theory] is a part of this," said Vignocchi. "It will make sense over time why we've chosen these developers to help us. The thing that we cared most about was bringing on developers that would raise our game."
