ESA Foundation Awards $90,000 in Scholarships

The ESA Foundation has selected 30 student developers to receive a total of $90,000 in scholarships for the 2009-2010 academic year. Fifteen award recipients are graduating high school students. The ESA awarded the remaining 15 scholarships to students currently enrolled at a college. The ESA's scholarships were awarded to students pursuing careers in video game development and related fields. Awardees are exploring the areas of graphic design, computer science, animation, programming, digital entertainment and software engineering. The ESA Foundation began offering scholarships to women and minority students in 2007. Each year, 30 selected students are awarded scholarships of $3,000 each. Since its introduction in 2000, the philanthropic branch of the Entertainment Software Association has supported positive programs and opportunities for American youth. To date, the ESA Foundation has raised over $10 million for youth causes.
