Gamasutra's bi-weekly look at the fastest-growing Facebook titles examines recently popular games like Zynga's latest title CastleVille, and A&E Networks Digital social game adaptation for TV's Storage Wars.
[Every other week, Gamasutra examines the fastest-growing Facebook games according to monthly active users, looking at which titles and developers are having the most success attracting new players on the social network.] Two weeks after the game's launch, the latest title from social game giant Zynga, CastleVille, has already reached 17.4 million users, 14.1 million of those tried the title out in just the last week. It is now the sixth biggest game on Facebook, in terms of audience size. The gains from this medieval sim and Words With Friends will offset the losses other Zynga titles have suffered in recent weeks -- Mafia Wars 1 and 2, Adventure World, CityVille, Empires & Allies, and Texas HoldEm Poker are bleeding hundreds of thousands of players. King.com's Bubble Witch Saga is the second fastest growing app after adding 600,000 new players for an 8.6 million total. Tied for third place are Tetris Online's Tetris Battle (7.4 milion total) and Zynga's Words With Friends (12.1 million total), both gaining 400,000 users each. Halfquest and Peak Games' Arabic farming sim المزرعة السعيدة, or Happy Farm, is at #5 with 300,000 new players and a 3 million total. Feevo Blaze, another puzzler from Tetris Online, follows after picking up 250,000 users for a 560,000 total. The #7-9 spots are taken up by Metrogames' Coco Girl (2.6 million total), Wooga's Diamond Dash (11.2 million total), and Kama Games' PokeristClub (1.7 million total), all three of which have brought in some 200,000 new users over the last week. And at #10 is A&E Networks Digital's social game adaptation for Storage Wars. The popular auction hunting reality TV show appeared on Facebook two weeks ago, and has 210,000 total users, 160,000 of those starting to play the game in the past seven days.
