Newsbrief: Microsoft veteran Kevin Unangst has been appointed vice president of Star Control developer Stardock.

Unangst spent nearly three decades helping to lead Microsoft's various marketing efforts, and will now head up Stardock's global marketing and partnership group.

The move comes just before Stardock is due to release Star Control: Origins, a revival of the Star Control series and the first game to make use of the Star Control name since Stardock acquired the rights to the franchise from Atari in 2013.

"Kevin has a multi-decade track record of recognizing turning points in the technology industry and helping ensure that emerging opportunities are fully realized," said Stardock CEO, Brad Wardell.

"We are excited to have someone of his talent and experience lead our efforts to ensure that our new endeavors reach their potential."
