Game service provider Keywords has expanded into co-development and engineering by picking up Sperasoft for $27 million.

Based in California, Sperasoft provides game development, art creation, and software engineering services to developers and publishers around the world.

The company employs 400 software engineers and artists, and runs three production studios across Russia and Poland.

Over the years Sperasoft has worked with big name clients including EA, Ubisoft, Warner Bros. and Riot Games. Most recently, its St Petersburg studio joined forced with Ubisoft's internal dev teams to create Assassin's Creed: Origins

For Keywords, it's the latest in a seemingly endless line of acquisitions and investments, which most recently saw the company nab game testing juggernaut VMC for $66.4 million

"Sperasoft adds considerably to our engineering services division which we intend to continue to build organically and through acquisition, as well as significantly enlarging our range of services and geographic footprint," said Keywords CEO, Andrew Day.

"We are delighted to welcome Sperasoft to the Keywords family and we look forward to working closely with their highly talented team to build upon their strong industry reputation and relationships with some of the world’s leading games developers and publishers."
