Newsbrief: Fledgling multiplayer game studio Manticore Games has secured $15 million in Series A funding.

The round was led by Benchmark, with Benchmark general partner Mitch Lasky joining the Manticore board as part of the deal.

Manticore was founded in 2016 by industry veterans Frederic Descamps and Jordan Maynard, who have worked at a number of high profile companies including Zynga, Trion Worlds, and EA.

Before establishing the studio, the duo were known as the co-founders of A Bit Lucky, a "trans-platform" multiplayer game developer that was acquired by Zynga in 2012.

The Manticore team hopes to use the cash injection to push on with the production of an unannounced hardcore multiplayer title.
