A little while back Nintendo laid out plans to open three Nintendo-themed areas in Universal Studios theme parks around the world.

Now, the Japanese giant has revealed the first such area will open in Universal Studios Japan, just in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Rather appropriately christened "Super Nintendo World," the park will feature a number of rides, interactive areas, and expansive, multi-level environments.

Naturally, a number of Nintendo's most popular characters will also be making an appearance, namely those from the Super Mario series.

Nintendo says building Super Nintendo World will cost in excess of 50 billion yen ($432.9 million), but will also pump roughly 11.7 trillion yen ($101.2 billion) back into the Japanese economy, and create around 1.1 million jobs within the next decade.
