After leaving the game industry in 2012 to pursue passion projects in the beer business, BioWare cofounder Dr. Greg Zeschuk is back -- in a sense -- with a leading role on the board of mobile game company Biba.

The Vancouver-based Biba is embarking on a partnership with playground equipment maker PlayPower to roll out augmented reality games that kids can play in real-world playgrounds.

As Chairman of the Board, it's unclear how much influence Dr. Zeschuk will exert on Biba's development efforts.

"Biba’s mobile games designed for outdoor play are just a breath of fresh air,”  stated Dr. Zeschuk in a press release. “PlayPower and Biba are creating a new category, an inventive way to blend our new media habits with the health benefits and joy of active outdoor play. I am inspired by the category as a game designer and father."

When Dr. Zeschuk and his fellow BioWare co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka left the industry, Dr. Zeschuk predicted that even if things didn't go well with his Beer Diaries side project, "I’ll have drunk a lot of tasty beers and may be back in games or even something else completely different." Biba seems to fit the bill.
