Perfect World's profits double following strong free-to-play sales

Free-to-play giant Perfect World doubled its profits during the last quarter, thanks to sales increases in both its online PC games and mobile titles.

Newsbrief: Free-to-play giant Perfect World doubled its profits during the last quarter, thanks to sales increases in both its online PC games and mobile titles. The company's CEO Robert Xiao said that its flagship PC game Swordsman Online is bolstering revenues, while Perfect World's deal to operate DOTA2 in mainland China is also contributing greatly to the company's finances. For the second quarter ended June 30, 2014, Perfect World posted revenues of 928.4 million Chinese Yuan ($151.2 million), up 33 percent year-over-year, and profits of 161.7 million Chinese Yuan ($26.3 million), up 100 percent year-over-year.
