Sony is looking at new ways to expand its virtual reality presence, and is toying with the idea of bringing its PlayStation VR headset to PC.

In an interview with Japanese website Nikkei, translated by Eurogamer, Masayasu Ito, Sony executive vice president, explained that while the company isn't actively working on PC support, it's something it may consider further down the line.

"The possibility exists since the PlayStation 4 shares many of its parts with the PC," said Ito.

"At the moment, we're concentrating on games so I have nothing to announce at this point, but we're looking to expand in a variety of areas."

Currently available for pre-order, the consumer version of Sony's virtual reality headset will launch in October this year.

The device will be available for $399.99 when it does finally hit shelves, although Sony has recently been pushing a $499.99 launch bundle, which also includes the recommended PlayStation Move motion controllers, a PlayStation Camera, and a copy of PlayStation VR Worlds
