Report: Rayman Legends will utilize Wii U NFC functionality

Newsbrief: A leaked trailer for the next Rayman game appears to show that Ubisoft will utilize the Nintendo Wii U's near-field communication technology. The video, as hosted by GoNintendo, shows players placing figurines of such characters as a Rabbid from Rayman and Ezio from the Assassin's Creed series onto the screen of the Wii U controller, affecting the gameplay in Rayman Legends. Nintendo revealed that NFC technology would be integrated into the Wii U controller earlier this year, allowing the controller to interact with objects equipped with NFC tags. Activision's popular Skylanders series uses a similar technology and premise, with players able to place figurines onto a pod to activate them in the game.
