Newsbrief: A leaked trailer for the next Rayman game appears to show that Ubisoft will utilize the Nintendo Wii U's near-field communication technology. The video, as hosted by GoNintendo, shows players placing figurines of such characters as a Rabbid from Rayman and Ezio from the Assassin's Creed series onto the screen of the Wii U controller, affecting the gameplay in Rayman Legends. Nintendo revealed that NFC technology would be integrated into the Wii U controller earlier this year, allowing the controller to interact with objects equipped with NFC tags. Activision's popular Skylanders series uses a similar technology and premise, with players able to place figurines onto a pod to activate them in the game. [Update: Ubisoft has acknowledged that Rayman Legends is under development by series creator Michel Ancel and his Montpellier team, and that an internal video for the game has leaked on the internet. However, it said the video should not be considered a representation of the expected final product. "This video was intended as a purely internal demonstrative video, and in no way represents the final game, the final console or their features," said the company in a statement released Friday morning. "This video was destined for internal production teams who often create game prototypes with work in progress development kits."]
