Top-Grossing iOS Games: DragonVale leads multiplatform sales

Apple's latest U.S. App Store game charts by revenue see DragonVale and Kingdoms of Camelot earning top iPhone sales, while Poker by Zynga and Bejeweled HD emerge as big sellers on the iPad.

Every week, Gamasutra rounds up the top-grossing iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad applications, as current that day in the iTunes App Store. This week's U.S. revenue charts see DragonVale and Kingdoms of Camelot earning top iPhone sales, while Poker by Zynga and Bejeweled HD emerge as big sellers on the iPad. These charts allow end users to see who is making the most money on the App Store that day. It differs significantly from the Top 10 Games chart, which is ranked by sales, and therefore is dominated by lower-priced titles that sell more copies. Data comes courtesy of Apple's public sales information. All titles in the App Store's "Games" category are considered in chart rankings. This week's top-grossing iPhone titles are: 1. DragonVale (Backflip Studios, Free) 2. Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North (Kabam, Free) 3. Poker by Zynga (Zynga, Free) 4. Slotomania (Playtika, Free) 5. Bejeweled Blitz (PopCap, Free) 6. Minecraft: Pocket Edition (Mojang, $6.99) 7. Galaxy Empire (Tap4Fun, Free) 8. Card Ace Casino (Self Aware Games, Free) 9. Dragon Story (TeamLava, Free) 10. Global War (Machine Zone, Free) A recent update spurs microtransaction sales for longtime App Store favorite DragonVale this week, and developer Backflip Studios overtakes former chart leaders Kingdoms of Camelot and Poker by Zynga to claim the top spot in this week's iPhone revenue rankings. Mojang's Minecraft: Pocket Edition also reports an increase in sales this week, as TeamLava's Dragon Story enters the top ten ahead of Machine Zone's Global War at ninth place. Smurfs' Village (Capcom, Free) DragonVale also heads up this week's iPad rankings, while last week's chart leader Slotomania HD trails Poker by Zynga and Kingdoms of Camelot at fourth place. PopCap's iPad-optimized Bejeweled HD sees impressive sales in its debut week at fifth place, while Funzio's Modern War and Capcom's Smurfs' Village finish at ninth and tenth place.
