Video game streaming outfit Twitch has cut the ribbon on a new office in Austin, Texas -- a short distance from Zilker Park in the city’s SoCo restaurant district.

Taking charge of the Texan offshoot will be industry veteran Ken Demarest, the company's newly hired director of product development for the developer success team.

Demarest has worked on a number of classic titles throughout his career, such as Wing Commander, Ultima Online, Bioforge, and Netstorm

His main focus will now be teaching game developers how to use Twitch in ways that "drive creativity and revenue."

"Some of the best and brightest engineers are based in Austin, and they have the ability to create cutting edge products that benefit from game broadcasting," said Demarest.

"Our goal is to help developers understand and utilize Twitch's platform to strengthen their connections with their communities. This initiative also includes building out our product development teams to work closely with the local talent."
