Microsoft has confirmed the departure of Xbox’s European boss Phil Harrison, as he’s left the company to pursue new opportunities.

Reports of the high-level departure circulated in March, though Microsoft had yet to comment on the situation officially until now. Harrison was corporate VP for Xbox in Europe.

Xbox head Phil Spencer said that “Harrison has chosen to pursue business interests outside of Microsoft,” in a statement to Games Industry. There’s no word yet on exactly what Harrison’s plans are next, though Games Industry said it will have more details Monday.

Harrison has had an extensive career in the game industry, rising to prominence at PlayStation, then heading up Infogrames and Atari, then eventually ending up at Microsoft working on Xbox, in addition to holding positions on various companies’ boards.
