Asking for help as a student in Game Design

Hey everyone,
So as you see in the title, I am a student that just started in the Game Design program at Full Sail University and I'm basically asking for some advice or tips from the professionals. I don't really know anything about the field so anything and everything will help. I am trying to see where I need to start to understand the basics of game design.
