[Every week GameSetWatch editor-in-chief Eric Caoili rounds up the latest news/media for obscure and offbeat games from Gamasutra's sister site and alternative video game blog.] Over at our recently redesigned alt video game blog GameSetWatch, we shared a number of fun stories from the past week, including a ROM hack that fixes legedary NES game Cheetahmen II, Jersey Shore avatar gear, an existential trip in Balloon Fight, and more. GameSetWatch's highlights from the last week: At Last, Cheetahmen II is Finishable - Cheetahmen II is a lot of things. It's one of two titles developed by Active Enterprises, creator of the infamously terrible Action 52. It's one of the rarest Nintendo Entertainment System games, and is quite possibly the single worst title in the system's library. It also has unusually catchy theme music, leading to a recent and inexplicable rise to memetic superstardom in Japan. Letting The Days Goes By: An Existential Trip In Balloon Fight - "A contemplative production that splices clips from Balloon Trip, Harvest Moon, Paperboy, Tapper, Golgo 13, and other games with existential quotes that will leave you considering your beautiful house and a beautiful wife, compelling you to ask, "Well, how did I get here?" Japan, Virtua Fighter Fans Cheer On Evo2K11 Champ Fuudo - Though they likely could have just stayed at home to watch livestreams from the event on their computers, many of Japan's fighting game fans gathered instead at a public party hosted by God's Garden (which holds its own huge fighting game tournaments) in Tokyo to watch Evo2K11 this year. Mike Haggar Gets the Epic Poem He Deserves - What starts as a fairly straightforward retelling of Final Fight's story soon gives way to something much, much more in this excellent Mike Haggar tribute from YouTube user Hortyort. If you're a fan of Capcom's Final Fight, you absolutely need to watch this. Star Fox's Connection To Little League Baseball Revealed - The Iwata Asks series has proven itself to be an invaluable resource for behind the scenes info and anecdotes for all things related to Nintendo. But the latest installment, which centers on Star Fox 64 3D and everything leading up to the 3DS remake, might be the best read yet. This Is What The World Has Come To: Jersey Shore Avatar Gear - Thanks to the release of Jersey Shore-themed virtual accessories, you can now dress up your Xbox 360 with leopard skin dresses, tank tops, and grenade whistles. Yes, for just 160 Microsoft points each, you can have a Chilean midget's hairdo and situational abs.
