In a develop team, different types of people usually fit different position, QA guys are rigorous, producers are charismatic. Today i'm talking about the people occupy the highest population in a develop team, programmers and artists.

Programmers and artists both have a heart making good games, meanwhile, they are living in different planet from some point of view. They are science and art, sense and sensibility, or horde and alliance. The programmers need structure, logic, attributes and data; meanwhile, the artists need format, size, environment and mood.

We can imagine, in their school time, programmers get high score in science classes and artist skip class to drink. Programmers are trained to research the deep connection among objects, artists focus the way to express their emotion and feeling

One day, we’re going to merge 2 pops up together. Programmer says, why don’t you just stick them together? 1+1=2, simple and clear. The artist says, of course no! They are contrasting colors, too sharp. The textures are not match, the one frame style looks too simple, here need some shadow, highlight or animation here. The artist loses patient but programmer has no idea why he’s mad.The other day, leading artist lists 30 points to change. Make the font bigger, make the button smaller, move the icon to left, move other icon to right. Programmers ask, what’s the hell difference between a white highlight and yellow highlight??!!

on the other hand, most of the programmers and artists trying to understand easy other in many aspects. and keep learning new things is the job requirement for everybody

Working with different types of people is part of excitement of this job. You talk, bargain, play, quarrel and learn from these poeple belong to completely diffenrent races. Don't you think that's interesting?
