Social game’s development is like a review of game history, social game designers change many types of games into social version, SIM, RPG, ATC, AVG, SLG, FTG, PZL, TAB, etc. Besides adding a friend list in main interface, they have changed the game mechanics to fit the facebook platform and facebook users. PvP as one of the important features in many games, it has something special when it’s been moved to facebook.

1)         Unlimited content. Do you remember how painful it is when you try your best to limit the art asset just to shorten 1 second of loading time? Our game is in a browser, so some how the smaller it can be, the more users might come and stay. PvP provides abundant game content and doesn’t need too much art asset, which helps a lot in loading speed and project budget.

2)         Asynchronous. Most of the time, your friends are not online. So the basic rule of a social game PvP is non real- time strategy. When a player challenges his friends, he’s actually fighting with AI. Of course that friend can do some efforts to manage and strengthen himself.

3)         Simple Mouse clicks. Unlike Hardcore games that involve coordinated dexterous mouse and keyboard actions, social games do not require any difficult physical actions. Social game players are used to finish everything by left clicking, so no matter how intense your PvP is, you should keep the game actions as simple as possible.

4)         Social Interaction. If your game is in a proper theme, like military, sports or fantasy, PvP is an interesting interaction feature.

5)         Mechanic. A social game mechanic should be simple but we still need some strategies and skills involved. Where should I put the strategy, skill and randomization? Can they work well in my system? Is the strategy is too difficult to understand and manage?

That’s my opinions about PvP in social game, thanks for reading~
