Infogrames has announced the results of its first financial quarter, showing sales up 79.8 percent to 95.9 million euros ($149.6 million) driven primarily by the release of Alone In The Dark, results it says shows "positive momentum in turnaround initiatives." Sales were also driven by the release of the company's latest Dragon Ball Z title. No information on Infogrames profit or losses for the quarter were given in the latest release. While Europe showed considerable growth of 49 percent of worldwide sales to 51.3 million euros ($80 million), while sales more than tripled in North America to 25 million euros ($39 million), which it says "re-established the geographical presence of the Group in the largest market for interactive games." Said CEO David Gardner, "I am pleased with our Q1 sales which have been driven by having two hit products, Alone in the Dark and Dragon Ball Z. It sets the pace for the rest of the year and gives us the time to begin our Publishing turnaround as the next key step to revitalizing the brand and company." "I'm particularly pleased with the trajectory of our U.S. business," he concluded. "Jim Wilson has put together a great team to help drive up our business results and regain our standing in this key market."
