Microsoft has announced that this Wednesday's regular Xbox Live Arcade update will see the addition of the IGF nominated Band of Bugs, the tactical strategy game from NinjaBee (Outpost Kaloki X, Cloning Clyde. Described by Microsoft as "a fun, strategic diversion for fans of tactical gameplay," the game will mark a rare strategy addition to the service. In addition to the single-player story-driven campaign, the game will also feature unique stand-alone missions, and skirmish mode, which will allow play of individual maps which can be designed and shared across Xbox Live via the included in-game map editor, which Microsoft notes is a first for the service. The game will also include four multiplayer modes for up to four players locally and across Live, and a "more relaxed" 'Spider Hunter' mode that lets eight players join and leave on the fly. Finally, the game will include a 'mystery leaderboard' where players can earn points for items they aren't told about, and will support the Xbox Live Vision Camera for all multiplayer modes. Band of Bugs will be available worldwide on Wednesday for 800 points ($10).
