Officials from Square Enix have announced that Final Fantasy XI has surpassed 500,000 subscribers. This figure was the company’s internal target for the game and seems to justify the company’s decision to enter the online arena. The game was launched in Japan two years ago, in the US three months ago but still does not have a European release date. Source: The Magic Box
