Sony has added two of its major releases of 2005 to the PlayStation 2's Greatest Hits catalogue, a lineup of budget-priced $20 rereleases of high-selling games. The two new additions are Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 4, released in February, and Incog Studios' God of War, released in March. Sony did not release individual sales data but stated that the two games together had sold over 2.5 million copies. The two games won several end of year awards; Gran Turismo 4 mainly in the driving and racing categories such as IGN's Best PlayStation 2 Racing/Driving Game, while God of War took home honors in categories as diverse as art direction, character design, and even game of the year from some outlets. Most recently, the game received several end-of-year nominations in the Game Developers Choice awards. "With more than one billion pieces of software shipped worldwide, PlayStation 2 is the fastest-selling gaming platform on the market," said Jack Tretton, executive vice president, co-COO, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "Our collection of 'Greatest Hits' games gives our customers access to hundreds of titles, including some of our most popular, award-winning games, at a value price."
