Electronic Arts' racer Need For Speed: Shift debuted at number one in the UK on the all-platforms chart, bumping down Activision's recently-released Guitar Hero 5 during the week ended September 19, Chart-Track said Monday. Need For Speed: Shift was developed by London-based Slightly Mad Studios, whose team includes members who worked on the well-received simulation racing games in the GTR PC franchise. Shift is a key step in EA's attempt to reboot the franchise, which saw flagging quality in recent releases. The PlayStation 3 version of Shift edged out the Xbox 360 version, accounting for 52 percent of the week's unit sales, Chart-Track said. The Xbox 360 version captured 44 percent, while the PC and PSP versions split the rest. Guitar Hero 5 held the top spot for just one week on the all-platforms chart, which aggregates unit sales of all versions of a given title. This week, Guitar Hero 5 fell to the number two slot. Meanwhile, rival music game The Beatles: Rock Band dropped from number four to number seven week-on-week. Aside from Shift, there was one other debut -- Bethesda-published Wet, a third-person shooter developed by A2M. UK All-Platforms Top 10 1. Need For Speed: Shift (EA) 2. Guitar Hero 5 (Activision) 3.
