D3 Publisher has announced that Infinite Interactive's hit Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords - already a hit DS/PSP title and coming soon to Xbox Live Arcade - will be expanding to the Wii, PlayStation 2, PC, and mobile phones, with THQ handling PC and mobile publishing. Following D3's recent acquisition of North Carolina-based Vicious Cycle Software, the developer will be working on the PlayStation 2 and Wii consoles, as it had already done for the currently available PSP version. Infinite Interactive itself will continue as sole developer for the PC version, with a demo already available for that platform, and the mobile version is to be co-developed by THQ’s Universomo mobile game development studio. The PC and mobile publishing and distribution rights will be handled by THQ's ValuSoft and THQ Wireless divisions. In May of this year, D3 announced that it would be supporting Xbox Live Arcade with a version of the critically acclaimed puzzle game. The PC, PS2, and Wii versions of the title are expected to be released this fall, with the mobile title slated for release in early 2008. Said Puzzle Quest designer and Infinite Interactive CEO Steve Fawkner, “The lightning quick acceptance and praise we received from fans and press for the fun, deeply immersive gaming experience we created by mixing RPG elements with puzzle gameplay were a dream come true when Puzzle Quest launched. The gaming community has offered such warm support and we are elated to open the game up to more fans by offering new ways to play.”
