Super Mario Galaxy 2 Leads For Second Week In Japan

Nintendo's hit Wii game Super Mario Galaxy 2 led charts for the second week in a row in Japan, Media Create said Thursday, selling 105,000 units during the week in the region. That puts total Japanese Super Mario Galaxy 2 sales at 445,000 through the week ended June 6. The game released in the region on May 27. Following in a distant second place was Konami's Fairy Tale Portable Guild, a four-player anime co-op game for PlayStation Portable. The title, new for the week, sold 35,000 units. The only other new game for the week was Hisshou Pachinko Pachislot Kouryaku Series Portable Vol. 1: CR Neon Genesis, a pachislot game for Nintendo DS published by D3 Publisher. Square Enix's Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 and Konami's Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker remained in the top 10 for another week straight. The two titles led the weekly charts when they launched in late April this year and have made the top 10 every week since. In Japan this week, Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 for DS sold 23,000 units, with 1.2 million sold to date. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for PSP sold 14,000 for the week and has sold 712,000 units in the region. Games falling out of the top 10 from last week include Banpresto's Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Masou Kishin -- The Lord of Elemental, New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Death Smiles IIX.
