Capcom says it's shipped an initial one million units of Super Street Fighter IV, the latest installment in its major fighting franchise. The launch of Street Fighter IV in 2008 kicked off something of a modern revival for the long-standing brand, and since then Capcom has been promoting the franchise through national tournaments, brand tie-ins an cross-media extensions. For example, the company confirms it'll launch an arcade version of Super Street Fighter IV, as it expects the game's success to be driven by new content and downloadables with which it plans to continue supporting the game. The original Street Fighter debuted in arcades in 1987, and its sequel, Street Fighter II, followed in 1991. According to Capcom, the franchise as a whole has reached 28 million console units shipped worldwide.
