The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences has announced its initial list of keynote speakers and topics for the 2005 D.I.C.E. Summit to be held at the Green Valley Ranch Resort in Las Vegas on January 31st through February 2nd. Standing for Design, Innovate, Communicate, and Entertain, the annual conference brings developers together to address issues and trends in the gaming industry. Some of those trends and their attendant speakers will be Tim Schafer, head of developers Double Fine, talking about the importance of taking risks in development; Jack Tretton of SCEA on next-generation game funding and development; fashion designer Marc Ecko on 'successfully' extending fashion brands into interactive entertainment; Seamus Blackley of CAA, also on financing next-gen game projects; Richard Marks, inventor of the EyeToy, on interface design; Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk from BioWare on user-created content; and Doug Lowenstein of the ESA on protecting games against online piracy. There will be a number of other panels and seminars, to be announced at a later date.
