The percent of mobile gamers age 25 and older has dramatically increased to 36 percent from 22 percent since October 2002, according to the second mobile gaming trend study conducted by In-Fusio, a mobile game publisher. Although the mobile gaming market is growing significantly for older players, the largest group (42 percent) remains between the ages of 18 and 24. The study’s results, which were compiled from a sample of 400 mobile gamers in France, also showed that 58 percent of mobile games were played at home, despite being portable. When purchasing a mobile phone, 87 percent of those surveyed said they were aware of the games included in the phone, a 20 percent increase since 2002. In choosing a new phone, 33 percent said the games included would influence their purchasing decision. Other findings showed that 60 percent of respondents said they would like to be involved in a mobile game community, and that although female players are loyal, regular customers, the choice of mobile games available does not significantly cater to their preferences.
