3Dlabs today announced the name and architectural details of its next graphics card design--the Wildcat Realizm VPU. Expected to be available in graphics cards mid-year, the Realizm VPU will feature native PCI-Express support, both OpenGL Shading Language and DirectX Pixel Shader 2.0/3.0 capability, a hierarchical Z-buffer for more efficient pixel culling, a virtual address space of 256GB, and 32-bit floating point per-pixel operations.
