The Academy of Art College recently changed its name to Academy of Art University, underscoring the breadth of art disciplines it has been offering. The Academy of Art offers degrees in several different aspects of game design, in two of its 12 departments: Animation & Visual Effects, and Computer Arts--New Media, with AA, BFA, and MFA degrees available, in addition to its more traditional art departments that will also be of peripheral interest to current and future game developers. Academy of Art University has been accredited by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education of the State of California, and the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
