Officials from Acclaim have moved to deny reports that the company has suffered a significant round of redundancies today, but have admitted that a filing for Chapter 11 protection is expected. The publisher’s studios in Manchester, England and Austin, Texas are closed today, with employees in Austin reportedly locked out of their offices due to unpaid rent. Staff in Manchester have allegedly not been paid this month. The company apparently hopes to continue trading while its debts are assessed by a third party, with a filing for Chapter 11 protection expected either later today, or on Monday.
