Activision and Audiokinetic have announced a partnership that will place Audiokinetic's WaveWorks Interactive Sound Engine (aka Wwise) into a variety of next-generation titles across Activision's global studios. Wwise is a suite of software designed to provide a complete solution to audio pipelines in game development, supporting "every phase of audio development" according to Audiokinetic's webpage. Adam Levenson, Director of Audio for Activision said, "Our partnership with Audiokinetic will allow us to overcome many of the technical difficulties in managing the production pipeline for audio and will ensure that the sound the consumer hears will be as immersive and interactive as the sound designer intended it." In September, Audiokinetic announced that it had secured more than CAN$5 million in investments to further the development of its software. Wwise made its debut in a piece of commercial game software in Microsoft/FASA's Shadowrun this year. No details were disclosed about the terms of the agreement or which Activision titles will utilize Wwise.
