Alias Systems has announced that the latest version of its Alias MotionBuilder 3D character performance and animation system system, Alias MotionBuilder 6, is now available to customers on maintenance. Planned for wide release later this month, MotionBuilder 6 expands on the previous iteration of the software with revamped real-time character animation technology, precision-animation tools, and enhanced keyframing. MotionBuilder also now works in conjunction with many 3D animation packages, including a high-level animation editor, redesigned properties viewer, and the ability to emulate various 3D packages' hotkeys. Alias also indicated that its software is continuing to be used by a number of film and game studios, with Ubisoft’s Montreal Studio particularly mentioned. At this time, Alias is currently notifying eligible MotionBuilder Pro maintenance and MotionBuilder Standard customers on how to acquire MotionBuilder 6.
