Maya maker Alias announced today that its sketching software SketchBook Pro now provides support for Mac OS X. Concurrently, the company released version 1.1 of the artist’s tool, which adds 26 new hotkeys, a single layer copy tool, and improvements to the brush editor and user interface. The software lets computer-based artists work with pens, markers, airbrushes, and other illustration instruments on a tablet. SketchBook Pro for Macintosh includes a feature not available to Windows users—a custom color picker that lets artists save palette colors. An Alias spokesperson said strong demand from consumers for Mac support prompted the move. System requirements: Mac OS X v10.3 or higher, G3 or faster, 128MB RAM, 1024x768 pixel display, a Quartz Extreme-compatible graphics system with at least 32MB of VRAM, and a drawing tablet.
