The development team for Halo Infinite has seen its fair share of high profile departures, with the latest being project director Chris Lee.

Lee, a longtime dev at Microsoft-owned 343 Industries confirmed to Bloomberg that he is no longer working on Halo Infinite, though a reason for his decision to step away from the game prior to release isn’t mentioned in his or Microsoft’s provided statements.

However Lee does seem to be remaining at Microsoft for the time being. Microsoft confirmed as much in a statement and Lee himself tells Bloomberg that he has “stepped back from Infinite and I am looking at future opportunities. I believe in the team and am confident they will deliver a great game and now is a good time for me to step away.”

Lee’s departure from the Halo Infinite project follows similar moves from its creative director Tim Longo and executive producer Mary Olson late last year, though in those cases both departures also left 343 Industries altogether.

Halo Infinite itself was once planned as a launch title for the Xbox Series X and Series S, both of which are set to release in a matter of weeks, but was recently delayed into 2021. Following that delay, 343 brought on former Halo developers Joseph Staten and Pierre Hintze to help see the project through its final stretch.
