Arrests in Half-Life 2 Code Theft

Valve Software is crediting gamers with their help in uncovering information that led to yesterday’s arrests of suspects who allegedly broke into the company’s network, and stole and disseminated source code from Half-Life 2. Although the arrests were reported in several countries, authorities have not released details such as where the suspects were apprehended. "Within a few days of the announcement of the break-in, the online gaming community had tracked down those involved," said Valve CEO Gabe Newell in a press release. The game’s release date was postponed as a result of the source code theft last year. Valve showcased Half-Life 2 on the E3 showroom floor this year, but still has not set a firm release date.
