Despite a successful unveiling at this year’s E3, Asian analysts have struck a cautious note in their assessment of the PlayStation Portable (PSP). The price of the console has proved to be the main area of concern, even though Asian analysts are quoting figures of between $175 and $260 – much less than most Western estimates of the price, which tend to be in the region of $300. There is also concern about Sony’s bullish sales targets, with Takashi Oka, game industry analyst at UFJ Tsubasa Securities, commenting: "I don't think Sony has hard data to back up their sales target of three million units.” "There are many portable games available, but Nintendo has stably dominated the market. It would be very difficult to take away a large share in the market," Oka said. Source: Channel NewsAsia
