A new deal between Atari and Sony Europe by which the latter will publish Ghostbusters in the PAL territories means the title will be exclusive to PlayStation platforms in Europe, Atari clarified today. The deal won't affect the game's North American release, however. Atari will publish the title as planned on Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3, PS2, PC and DS on June 16th stateside. Sony will publish the game on June 19th in Europe -- on PlayStation 3 and PS2 only. According to Atari's announcement, the PSP version of Ghostbusters planned for Autumn 2009 will release worldwide. Atari CEO Jim Wilson reiterated the company's position that the partnership with SCEE "[maximizes] a title of this magnitude on a global basis." Original Ghostbusters writers Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd have contributed writing to the video game, and the voices and likenesses of many of the original cast -- Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, William Atherton and Annie Potts -- will feature in the title. An earlier announcement revealed that SCEE would publish Ghostbusters in Europe, but this is the first time Atari is clarifying the plans for the rest of the SKUs in other regions, and the first time the company refers directly to the PlayStation platform exclusivity in Europe.
