Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
Atari (formerly Infogrames) announced results for the fiscal year that ended March 31, a period that was shortened to nine months as a result of shifting its fiscal year end date.
For the nine-months ended March 31, net revenue climbed 40% over the comparable 2002 period, to $404.6 million. Publishing revenue was up 56%, to $329.8 million, while distribution revenue declined from $77.5 million in the same period last year to $74.8 million this year. Atari posted a big turnaround in net income posting a $18.1 million profit, compared to net loss of $10.2 million in the comparable year-earlier period. The company attributed its results to strong sales of Dragon Ball Z series, RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 (PC); Unreal Championship (Xbox) and Unreal Tournament 2003 (PC); and Backyard Hockey (PC). For the quarter ended March 31, net revenue rose 68% to $84.7 million, but the company still reported a net loss of $12.7 million. On the bright side, that's better than last year's net loss of $22.9 million in the same quarter.
