According to reports from local retailers software and hardware sales have been weak this holiday season in Australia. The Australian market grew by a record 31% in 2002, but is expected to rise by just 2% in 2003. David McLean, Microsoft director of Xbox operations for Australia, has commented that, "We were somewhat surprised by the lack of growth at Christmas. It seems stand-alone consoles were not cheap enough."
