The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.

Jim Rossignol's latest instalment of 'Blogged Out', the regular news report that looks at the world of developer blogging and the conversations being had with the community at large, checks out E3's death and virtual reporting's life. In the first part of his piece, Rossignol notes: "The entire Internet is aflame with thoughts on the death of E3. Analysis and reminiscence is two a-penny, so here's Greg Costikyan's suggestion on what ESA should really be doing with the gaming event of our time: "If it were up to me, I'd rather go in the opposite direction--turn E3 into something more like GenCon or Leipzig. Throw the "trade only" restriction out the window, open it up to actual gamers, charge them enough to make big bux for the ESA, ramp up attendance from 40k to 100k plus, and make it an event where publishers market to consumers as well as the trade. E3 would probably become even more repulsive under this scenario--booth babes and headache-inducing music and light compounded--but it would be a nice money earner, and doubtless be wildly popular with gamers."
