In his regular column, Foci Mobile lead analyst Steve Palley takes a detailed look at the current war of words in the mobile game analysis space - with Telephia and M:Metrics facing off over cellphone stats, who's going to come out on top? Steve comments of the notable controversy and the history of conflict in the mobile game market: "The mobile games space has become well acquainted with the magic of litigation over the last several years. One prominent example that springs to mind is the recent sparring between Yahoo! and Hands-On Mobile (formerly MForma) over the elopement of several Yahoo! engineers to the mobile content firm. Another classic instance is Play It! and I-play's nasty dust-up over I-play's rebranding; over a year later, the companies are still fighting over I-play's right (or lack thereof) to use a red spot in its logo. Last week, Telephia and M:Metrics joined the club when the former accused the latter of infringing upon its metering technology for smartphones. M:Metrics shot back over Telephia's bow by calling the charges baseless and promising to uphold next week's launch of its suite of metering products, rain or shine. Telephia and M:Metrics may make their living at the periphery of the mobile content market, but the struggle between the two is no less serious than the publisher donnybrooks listed above."
